There is no doubt that from around 36 weeks into your pregnancy, if not before, you will be on high alert for any signs of your impending labour. The birth of your baby is sure to be playing heavily on your mind during the late stages of your pregnancy. Having your hospital bag packed will help prepare you for the birth of your baby and keep feelings of anxiety at bay. Here is a checklist of things to pack in your hospital bag -
Labour - A nightie for labour, a heat pack or hot water bottle for pain relief, massage oil, some music and/or an oil burner to encourage relaxation, a book, some drinks and snacks and a fully stocked toiletries bag.
For Your Hospital stay - Some hospitals provide newborn baby nappies, baby clothing for your hospital stay, baby wipes, cot sheets, cot blankets and muslin wraps. Ensure that you pack a going home outfit for your baby and plan in advance so that your vehicle is equipped with an approved infant baby seat or capsule.
For You - Make sure you pack some comfortable clothes, a going home outfit for your baby, your camera, some phone numbers of people you would like to contact when your baby arrives, some maternity pads, some breastfeeding pads, a comfortable maternity and or breastfeeding nightie, some slippers and a dressing gown.
